    Hunting Archery Fishing Classifieds

Hunting, archery, and fishing are popular hobbies that blossomed from a means of survival to the recreational activities they are today. Unfortunately, these pastimes are not typically cheap. Thus, Want Ad Digest is here to offer a marketplace of reliable, affordable hunting equipment for sale, archery equipment for sale, and fishing equipment for sale. Having the right equipment ensures a safe, lawful, and productive hunting trip, fishing trip, or whatever you are looking to do.

Here, we are going to explore the various components of hunting, archery, and fishing to better equip you with the knowledge you need to buy the gear that you need. We will look into the following: tips for how to hunt safely and within hunting laws, types of hunting equipment in addition to firearms, different types of bows for archery and their various uses, different types of fishing and fishing equipment, including but not limited to rods and reels, and we will provide a short glossary of helpful fishing terms. Finally, at the end of this article we also have further links for more information.

Let us first explore hunting equipment often found for sale in our hunting classified ads. First of all, if you are looking for hunting rifles for sale, you may want to check out the Guns and Ammo section of the Want Ad Digest, as they may be listed under that category instead of Hunting, Archery, and Fishing. When choosing a gun, first research the animal you plan to hunt as well as where this animal is likely to be found.

Likewise, research state laws in general as well as the hunting area itself when hunting to ensure that you are compiling with federal and local laws. It should be mentioned that the rules can change from year to year, so even if you are not new to hunting it is still a good idea to check out what the current regulations are. If are you unsure where to look, you can start with the US Fish & Wildlife Services of the Northeast, whose website is linked to at the bottom of this page.

Hunting must be regulated in order not to disturb the balance of nature. The regulations differ depending on the season and what you are hunting. There are regulations for not only what kind of guns or weapons you can use while hunting, but also regulations for where you are hunting and how long you can hunt there. Again, please make researching your local hunting laws a part of your online search for hunting equipment for sale.

In addition to the firearm you will be using to hunt, one the most important types of hunting equipment for sale is actually the appropriate clothing - this is crucial for having a safe and satisfactory hunting trip. There are clothes specifically designed for hunting, which of course vary depending on what you are hunting and where. All hunting clothes should protect the hunter from the elements, but some go a step farther - such as, there are some hunting clothes that are meant for protecting the wearer from briers and thorns. There is waterproof clothing for wet areas, camouflaged clothing to blend into the environment, and of course, there are hunting boots; there are also wading boots, if you are say hunting ducks.

If you are planning an overnight hunting trip, you will want to look out for camping gear when browsing hunting classified ads. This gear can consist of a tent, sleeping bag, bug repellent, flashlights, a compass, a GPS unit, and of course bringing food and water is essential.

In addition to overnight gear, hunting clothing, and the gun or other weapon you are using to hunt the animals, some other hunting equipment for sale can include the following: a backpack, a knife, a box call, or a mouth call.

Having the right backpack can make a huge difference in your overall comfort while hunting, as well as how easily you can grab things you brought with you. A knife can be used not only to clean game but can also be used to kill the animal. All knives should be stainless and fairly easy to clean.

A box call is a rectangular wooden box with a flat lid shaped like a paddle. When you move the lid back and forth it makes animal noises to attract them - these are often used when hunting turkeys. A mouth call, on the other hand, essentially provides the same service, but it is a horseshoe shaped device that fits into the caller's mouth. Most hunters find the box call easier to use than the mouth call, although the mouth call does have the advantage of being hands free.

Finally, the last primary hunting equipment for sale is also archery equipment for sale - some hunters like the challenge of hunting with a bow and arrow instead of a gun. Using a bow and arrow to hunt was the main way of hunting until guns came about, at which point using a bow and arrow became more of a sport. But, a bow and arrow can be used to kill almost any type of game, and in fact in some areas you can only use a bow and arrow to hunt. Using a bow and arrow for hunting requires patience and exact accuracy.

However, most people browsing archery classifieds are likely looking to participate in the sport rather than in hunting - either way, we have used reliable archery equipment for sale here at Want Ad Digest.

The sport of archery involves using a bow to shoot arrows at a target that is either still or moving. Target archery involves shooting arrows at a target from a predetermined distance away; field archery, which is less common, involves targets being set out in a course throughout a wooded area.

There are four main types of bows for sale that you may find in archery classifieds - all bows use arrows, and all can be used for either archery or hunting. Each type has its subsequent advantages and disadvantages, and most can have accessories added to them.

Compound bows are made of a complex pulley system with wheels and cables. These bows ensure maximum speed of the arrow - they are very fast, and very accurate.

Longbows are named for their length, as they are typically about six feet long, and are just slightly curved. These bows for sale are not as fast as compound bows. They are very simple and traditional.

Recurve bows for sale are used in competitive archery tournaments. These bows for sale shoot arrows faster than longbows, but not as fast as compound bows. Recurve bows are meant to combine the feel of traditional archery via a simple, classic bow, with the accuracy and speed of more modern bows.

Crossbows have the appearance of a gun with a bow attached to it. These bows for sale are almost entirely mechanical, with the bow fixed crosswise on a wooden stock.

Now that we have covered hunting classifieds and archery classifieds let us take a look at fishing equipment for sale. When it comes to fishing there are numerous types of fishing, and consequently, many different kinds of fishing equipment for sale: there are different kinds of rods, reels, nets, and more.

We are unable to cover the entire span of fishing and fishing equipment for sale here, but the main rule of thumb is to, as with hunting, research the type of animal you are going after as well as where you will be hunting this animal. With fish, know what kind of fish you want catch and where you will be fishing - bass vs trout, saltwater vs fresh water, etc. When you know what kind of fishing you will be doing you can narrow down the fishing equipment for sale that you are looking to purchase.

First, there are some fishing terms that are good to know when looking to buy fishing equipment:

Angler: anyone who uses a rod and reel to fish

Angling: recreational fishing by means of sport fishing or game fishing (sport fishing = catching fish for the pure joy of fishing, as compared to for food or for money; game fishing = catching fish that are specifically reserved for recreational fishing, sometimes by law)

Drag: dragging allows the spool to slip before the line snaps, allowing the fish more line

Flies: small, light lures made of hair or feathers that resemble fish food when on the hook

Harpooning: a method used by very skilled fishermen to catch large fish

Reel: a device for winding and unwinding the fishing line, attached to the fishing rod

Rod: the long pole to which the fishing line and reel are attached

Spool: the part of the reel that holds the line

Trolling: the process of trailing fishing lines behind or alongside a boat

Now that we are armed with some fishing terminology, let us get into specifics of the main fishing equipment for sale: rods, reels, and nets.

There is no one size fits all fishing rod - they are all used for different kinds of fishing in different kinds of waters. It may be helpful when looking to buy fishing equipment if you ask the seller what kind of fishing they did with their used fishing rod for sale.

Regardless of the type of fishing rod you end up with, you should know that because of the way rods are constructed, hidden fractures can appear from the rods being hit against things (like the side of a boat, for instance) and so you would do best to avoid knocking the rod against anything.

The action, or taper, of the rod refers to the flexibility or stiffness that it exudes - this basically means how much the rod will bend. Rods can be either very stiff or very flexible but all must have tips that are more bendable near the end of the reel. The action of the rod is an aspect that many fishermen, both amateurs and experts and those in between, often do not take into consideration (but they should).

Slow rods will bend towards the bottom. Slow fishing rods are good for lighter fishing that does not put too much pressure on the line. Although, they are more difficult to get a good hook set with. When using these types of rods you will want to use earthworms, or something similar, for bait.

Medium rods will bend near the middle, fast rods will bend towards the top, and extra fast rods will barely bend at all. Each type of rod has its own specific uses and will coincide better with certain types of fishing. For example, a trout fishing rod does not need to be as limber as a bass fishing rod. Bass put up much more of a fight, and thus you will need a more flexible type of fishing rod.

Nearly all fishing rods are made of either fiberglass, granite, or a combination of the two (although there are some made out of other materials, such as bamboo). Graphite typically costs more than fiberglass, but not always. Rods are made by wrapping a very thin sheet of long fibers of the graphite, fiberglass, or other material around a fastener; the stiffer the fibers the less flexible the rod will be. The rod action is established by the type and the amount of the material that is used.

When it comes to rod length usually longer is better, but they are more difficult to travel with. Shorter rods can be better for limited fishing areas, where you could say snag your line on an overhanging tree branch. Longer rods are good for throwing the bait farther away, but again are more difficult to travel with. Some rods come in one piece, others can be broken down into two or more, but the one piece ones tend to have fewer problems.

Moving onto the reel, this is the device by which the line is wound. Generally speaking you want a reel that is light enough to cast the bait easily, but strong enough to be able to hold the biggest fish you plan on catching.

Reels are single action, multiplying, or automatic. With single action reels the spool turns one time each time you turn the handle; they can only retrieve a short amount of line. Multiplying reels consist of a gear system that turns the spool faster than the handle is turned, meaning that you can bring the line in more quickly. Automatic reels are spring loaded and bring in the line when you push a lever.

There are a wide variety of reels to choose from when checking out fishing equipment for sale, but we're going to take a look at three of them: spin cast reels, open face spinning reels, and bait casting reels. Again, when looking to buy fishing equipment you will first want to take into consideration what kind of fishing you will be doing, and that will lead you in the right direction as to what kind of reels and etc you want to look into.

A spin cast reel is fairly inexpensive and easy to use. It has a push button line for release casting. However, they are not suitable for fishing where you need a lot of line. Open face spinning reels are little more complex than spinning cast reels, and also come in more sizes. Open face spinning reels have good line capacity. Thirdly, we have a bait casting reel, which is good for experienced fishers because it's more difficult to cast with than the aforementioned reels. These reels come in a wide variety of sizes and last a long time.

If you are not planning on fishing with a traditional rod and reel you may be interested in fishing nets, of which there are several different kinds. Hand nets have a long handle with a hoop on the end that is used to catch fish that swim near the surface. Cast nets consist of weights that pull the net down to the bottom of the water; the fish is trapped inside when the net is pulled back up. Coracle nets require two people working together to catch a fish.

There are also gillnets, which involve a curtain of netting suspended by a system of floats and weights - these nets can be anchored to the sea floor, but do not have to be. Gillnetting is effective in that the fish are usually unable to see the net. Stake nets are mesh nets which the fish get tangled in, and they are run across the bottom of the body of water. Stake nets are good for waters with a strong tide. Finally, there are trawls, which are large fishing nets dragged through the water by the boat, which are able to trap many fish at once.
