The Mitsubishi Eclipse is one of the most popular models in the lineup. This compact, lightweight, and affordable car hit the scene in 1989 and is still being produced today. This car is responsible for the establishment of the Mitsubishi name in America. In 1991, anti-lock breaks and automatic transmission became available. In 1992, the pop out headlights were replaced by fixed ones. And in 1995, the Eclipse was revamped to be longer, smoother, and more polished. Changes remained fairly minor until 2000, when the Eclipse was equipped with a new suspension system in addition to several upgrades: anti theft protection, power windows and locks, and later on in 2006 the Eclipse came out with advanced handling.
The Mitsubishi Outlander came out in 2001 in Japan and was introduced to the US in 2003. This Mitsubishi model is basically a large station wagon - it is an SUV, but it is also more practical and fuel efficient than traditional SUVs. The Outlander can seat fit passengers in addition to having great storage space. In 2007, foldable second and third row seats were added to maximize storage. Also in 2007, the Outlander was adorned with a larger engine - a 3.0 V6 with 220 horsepower.
The third Mitsubishi model we will explore today is the Galant, which Edmunds calls, "one of the more fun to drive family sedans." The Galant has been around since 1969 and is still being manufactured today. In 1989, it was declared Motor Trend's Import Car of the Year. In 1998, it was revamped to be more stylish and to hold five passengers. In 1999, a V6 engine was added. The more recent Galants are a little bit larger and are equipped with a 3.0 liter V6. Also, today's Galants come available in two options: the ES and the SE. The ES is more basic, while the SE contains a few more extras, such as a sunroof, heated front seats, and a better sound system.
Other types of Mitsubishi cars you may come across being sold by private sellers or a dealership such as Mangino Mitsubishi, are the Lancer, the Carisma, or the Endeavor.
